We chose to support the efforts of the rescue teams. We arrived at the Westside Highway around 4:30 am after a simple night out talking with a few friends at a local bar. There were over 10 cops and only ONE supporter continuously clapping to the cars passing by. We joined force with him and he said he had wrote two checks but nothing made him more proud about himself than what he was doing now. We kept on running back and forth to make sure we didn't miss any cars that were going in or out of the scene. We got some coffee for the cops and clapped some more until 6:30 am. Two more people showed up with a banner that made me feel a little better leaving him there. I know tons of people go there throughout the day and night. But we NEED at least one person to keep their spirit up during the odd hours too. One of the officers actually stopped his car on his way out of the scene. He shook our hands and said, "You have no idea how important your support means to us." Now you heard it yourself, swing by the westside Highway for 10 mins when you walk your dog at night. Come out for 10 mins if you can't sleep instead of taking a chill pill. Come out whenever you can just to make sure they know we are WITH them. Especially for all those nocturnal animals out there, give your computer a break, come on down to Christopher Street and the Westside Highway to exercise your stiffened hands. Zero again today but the rescue workers all
proclaimed that even the government ordered them to stop. They simply
won't follow that order. |
